REQUIREMENT
Seasonal forecasting sales leading
into and out of a season must always factor two trends into
distribution formulas:
-
Retailer's
seasonal trend; for example, Mass Merchandisers and Bookstores
have increased levels of consumer traffic and sales during the
4th quarter of each year.
-
Every title sets
its own year over year trend based on popularity.

Other retail class of trades can
benefit through use of seasonal trending. An excellent
opportunity lies in Airport Retail Accounts. Consumer traffic
pattern changes can be identified for "flying days" around holidays.
Analysis of sale trends year to year will move distribution in and
out of the airport traffic "mini" seasons that occur throughout the
year. |
